When you start a business, you definitely want to be recognized and easily available for the outside world! The domain registrars are the companies that manage the internet domain names. All domain name registrars are accredited by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Named and Numbers). Now what is an ICANN? ICANN is a non-profit organization which is responsible for coordinating and maintaining numerous databases related to the name spaces and numerical spaces in internet, for e.g., your company name.
Domain registrars simply allows you to purchase and register your domain name. This registration works in accordance with the guidelines of the designated domain name registries. You need to check if your domain name is already taken by someone or is it still available so you could choose it accordingly.
Domain name registry is a database of all domain names and the associated registrant information in the top-level domains of the Domain Name System (DNS) of the internet that enables third party entities to request administrative control of a domain name. Most registries operate on the top level and second level of the DNS. Even though lot of companies, i.e., domain registrars provide us the opportunity to purchase and register domain names, for e.g., HostGator, Bluehost, GoDaddy, Hostinger, SiteGround, Namecheap, Domain.com etc., choosing the right one is a difficult task.
We all need those service providers which has quality services, affordable prices, discount offers, and easy to use UI (User Interface) and above average customer care.
Here we have listed out top 5 domain registrars and web hosting providers which we think are good in their services compared to other domain registrars. We will also let you know the pros and cons of these domain registrars and our personal opinion regarding them. So let’s dive in!!
1. HostGator
HostGator is a domain registration company headquartered in Houston, Texas, United States. They provide great web service and they are the provider of shared, reseller, virtual private server with a dedicated web hosting. They mainly focus their business on selling web hosting, VPS Hosting, Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Servers, Windows Hosting and Word press Hosting. HostGator is one of the popular companies who offers domain names and website hosting. They have an easy to use search tool which will quicken up your search for a suitable domain name for your business.
Pros:
- HostGator have introduced a brand-new drag-and-drop website builder called Gator.
- Cheap Domain name Registration.
- They are providing free domain name and SSL Certificate with all of their website builder plans. (This means you if you buy their website builder to build your website (that was obvious), you will not have to pay anything for domain name & SSL Certificate for the website that you are building but if you buy at least 12 months plan.)
Cons:
- They will start with very cheap price in the first term and increase the price upon renewal.
- They have constant upsells and poor backups. You will be asked to pay for those.
- They are not very reliable.
- The website builder, Gator is to be bought on monthly-basis. (You will have to pay for the builder every month and therefore is not a one-time purchase. So, getting a free domain name and SSL Certificate seems useless at the cost of Gator.)
We, Team Digitality would not personally recommend you to buy neither domain nor web hosting from HostGator, as we can help you with some better domain registrars. But yes if you prefer quantity over quality, this definitely will be your choice.
2. Bluehost
